Kourtney Neloms currently serves as the Interim Executive Director of Co.act Detroit, a hub dedicated to strengthening Southeast Michigan’s nonprofit sector. In this role, she provides strategic leadership while collaborating with a talented staff, funders, practitioners, nonprofits, and community leaders to foster innovative ideas, align resources, and deliver exceptional programs and learning opportunities accessible to all.
Kourtney came to Co.act Detroit through her work as the Founder and President of Catalyst Consulting 313, a boutique consulting firm she established in 2004. With a career focused on guiding organizations through strategic and leadership transitions, she has become a trusted advisor to social impact and philanthropic organizations across Michigan. Her recent projects highlight her versatility and expertise: managing grassroots grantmaking, developing a referral system for a network of mental and behavioral health service providers, and overseeing a federally funded relief grant program for small nonprofits.
Before founding Catalyst Consulting 313, Kourtney held strategic planning, research, and evaluation roles with prominent local organizations, including the Detroit Employment Solutions Corporation, the former City of Detroit Human Services Department, and the University of Michigan.
A proud Detroiter, Kourtney is a graduate of the University of Michigan, where she earned dual master’s degrees in social work and urban planning. Her work in Detroit has fostered a deep love for her community and a steadfast belief that the resources needed to achieve meaningful change already exist within the community. She is committed to cultivating true supporters and partners who can help unlock that potential and drive transformative progress.
Outside of work, Kourtney enjoys volunteering with local and international youth development organizations, which have provided valuable learning and travel opportunities. She also loves exploring new destinations with her husband, an educator, and their two teenage sons.
