Asia Blaney

Grants Program Manager

Asia manages an emerging grant program focused on supporting BIPOC-led youth organizations. An ardent interest for building nonprofits and small businesses has always been a part of Asia’s personality. Previously, she consulted for small businesses on PR, social media, and other business endeavors. She also served in a variety of roles that honed skills in project management, grants, and leadership, including as an Account Manager for a tutoring nonprofit. She continues to use these skills and more by volunteering her time to consult for “House of Kuumba,” a collective that houses Black LGBTQ+ Detroiters. She is a graduate of Concordia University, receiving a Master’s in Organizational Leadership and a Certificate in Strategic Marketing. She graduated from University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and minor in Community Action and Social Change. She is the co-founder of Onyx Comix; a comic book organization geared toward improving representation of black characters and creators in fantasy and sci-fi comics. In her spare time, she enjoys reading manga, playing video games, and a thrilling game of DnD.
