A Special Note on Co.act Detroit’s New Executive Director

Oct 10, 2025

Dear Co.activists:

Following a thoughtful and inclusive search process, Co.act Detroit has named Ezekiel Harris as Executive Director, beginning Monday, October 13.

Ezekiel brings more than a decade of experience leading community-centered initiatives across nonprofit strategy, real estate development, and workforce equity. In Detroit, he has guided projects that create opportunity, strengthen local infrastructure, and center equity in action. His leadership reflects the values that have shaped Co.act from the beginning — collaboration, access, and shared growth.

Over nearly six years, Co.act has supported thousands of organizations across Southeast Michigan, advancing collaboration, equity, and sustainability. This transition marks an important step in Co.act’s growth. With a new fiscal sponsor and Board of Directors, the organization continues to strengthen its foundation for long-term resilience and deeper community connection.

Ezekiel’s leadership will deepen that progress and expand Co.act’s role as a connector and catalyst for Detroit’s nonprofit ecosystem. His commitment to equity and innovation reflects Co.act’s ongoing mission to ensure nonprofit leaders have the resources and relationships they need to thrive.

Serving as Interim Executive Director during this period of transformation has reaffirmed how strong and resilient this community is. I’m deeply grateful for the partnerships, conversations, and moments of creativity that have guided us through this transition. Co.act’s work is only possible because of the people and organizations who continue to show up for one another with imagination, care, and a shared belief in what’s possible when we work together.

We invite you to join us for a Drop-in Workday on Monday, October 30. Stop by throughout the day to co-work, connect, and celebrate this new chapter for Co.act. At 1 p.m., we’ll take a moment to welcome Ezekiel, hear a few words from him, and enjoy an afternoon of community and conversation.

Looking forward, we remain grounded in our commitment to equity, collaboration, and innovation, all values that have guided our work since day one.

Thank you for being part of our community and for supporting this exciting new chapter in Co.act’s journey.

Warmly,
Kourtney Neloms
Interim Executive Director
