Join Co.act Detroit and Michigan Community Resources for an enriching series for consultants and professionals who share a deep commitment to helping nonprofits achieve their missions. Convening #1: Visualizing Southeast Michigan’s Capacity Building Ecosystem

Tuesday, June 27, 12:00-1:30pm

Join Co.act and MCR for a kickoff of the Consulting with Purpose convening series. This community of practice will convene four monthly sessions for the network to collaborate on topics or issues chosen by the group. At the kickoff you can expect to:

• Walk with Data Driven Detroit (D3) through the Capacity Builder Ecosystem Map, a graphic representing the consultants, small businesses, nonprofit and for-profit organizations serving Southeast Michigan’s nonprofit community
• Participate in facilitated discussion and activities to guide reflection on the ecosystem map and how this tool may be used to enhance your impact and accelerate your work
• Co-create a single topic or issue-based agenda that will be the focus of the next three convenings

About the Consulting with Purpose Series

In 2020, Co.act Detroit launched a pilot program called the Activate Fund, designed to accelerate impact in southeast Michigan’s nonprofit community through capacity building grants, collaboration support, and the incubation of nonprofit earned revenue models.

The Activate Fund also cultivated a network of consultants and professionals like you. In our engagement with this group, we heard a desire for more structured opportunities to connect and collaborate with one another. This is why we’re excited to partner on the launch of this new series. Whether or not you were a part of the Activate Fund, this series is for you.

About the Facilitator

Heather Nugen (she/her) serves as interim director for Michigan Community Resources’ Systems Transformation body of work, aiming to build power within the nonprofit sector by shifting norms, practices, and attitudes, leading to more equitable communities.

Heather has experience supporting and leading community development initiatives in Detroit and in the rural community of Eaton Rapids, Michigan, which included coordinating educational and networking opportunities for local development professionals.
